For now, telepresence meeting rooms use high end video cameras, displays, sound-systems with high capacity bandwidth transmissions.
In general telepresencing refers to a set of technologies which allow a person to feel as if they were present or to give the appearance that they were present.
Telepresence requires that the senses of the user be provided with such stimuli as to give the feeling of actually being in the other location. Expect this technology to enter the home in 2010, with Cisco and Skype both leading the way – one on the higher expense end and the other on the low end.
